Food safety | SGB body calls for ‘food poisoning’ state of emergency

JOHANNESBURG – The National Association of SGBs is joining the call for a food poisoning state of emergency.
Over a dozen children have died and hundreds have fallen ill after eating suspected contaminated food.
Most were bought from spaza shops and street vendors.

”We want to say government, if possible [declare] state of emergency now,” said Matakanye Matakanya.
‘Because if they don’t to that now, by the time they decide to do it, we won’t have a country.
“I’m referring to the children as a country because these children are the future.”
